March 12th: Foundational Skills for Multilingual Learners
• Focus on building essential literacy and language skills
• Explore strategies to develop literacy skills while addressing students’ diverse linguistic needs
April 9th: Bridging and Translanguaging
• Learn how to intentionally bridge students’ home languages with English using translanguaging strategies
• Discover ways to support content learning, academic vocabulary, and classroom participation
April 30th: Communication for Learning ~ Equitable Access for Multilingual Learners
• Support academic language development by focusing on language forms and functions
• Gain practical, classroom-ready strategies to scaffold vocabulary, sentence structures, and communication skills across subjects
This series is hosted by the Portland Reading Council, a local nonprofit supporting literacy educators.
Registration fees will fund literacy project grants. Co-sponsored by the Multnomah Education Service District.
