$300 Community Engagement Grants to Support Literacy
An important goal of the Portland Reading Council is to promote literacy in our community.
Previously funded community engagement projects include:
Created a lending library and sharing literacy activities with families at an apartment complex in Gresham
Supported a local project boosting literacy in 2nd grade by pairing students with local high school athletes as reading mentors
Supported local high school students who read “windows and mirrors”books, wrote reviews, and donated the titles to Street Books, a bicycle-powered lending library for the homeless
ELIGIBLE PROJECTS MUST HAVE AN IMPACT THAT EXTENDS BEYOND THE SCHOOL WALLS.
